Apparently with change comes chaos. And expenditure. I have spent the last few days running around between work and must-do errands. Subscriptions are cancelled, the unnecessary is being donated and new things are being ordered. Sadly, I will never be the person who lets things leave the house without newer things coming to stay. Such is me.
There is some sock progress.
And some new things have been cast on.
The patchwork blocks are in progress and I am enjoying watching the fabric pile slowly reduce. The goal is to have no more than a square foot of fabric left.
I will admit that so far January is a bit rough. Even though we have blue skies, I am feeling the grimness of the middle of the dark season.
Those wise people who head for warm sandy vistas in the middle of Winter? You may be right.
I am not one for the beach but I miss daylight and working indoors means there is a lack of light in my life. Literally and figuratively.
Still. There is an abundance of good things.
As far as reading goes I have been through a period of young adult paranormal romance books and am pretty much done with the whining and angst for the moment. I have picked up a book I bought years ago that I had started reading and then misplaced and never really got back into again, even though I did eventually find it's poor lost self. It's called The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. There are several books in the series but I have a compendium of the first three so that should keep me busy. It's a Fantasy series (the lead character is a leper) and it may seem a little similar to YA paranormal, but trust me. It's like salt and sugar.
And that's where I am. Persevering though January, putting plans into motion for 2013 and putting one foot in front of another until the day starts to move.
I definitely need to plan a vacation...

January has always been rough for me -- all that cold and dark. It used to be worse when I was in a windowless office; I would get to work before the sun came up and leave for home after it had gone down, so some days I never saw the sun at all. Now I'm reassuring myself by seeing that sunset is getting later every day (even if it's only by a minute or two). It's just late enough now that it's no longer pitch black when I walk home after work!
Come to San Diego! The door is always open and the sun is mostly always shining! The nights have been cold at least for me - high 40s but the days are great!
